I have vowed for a simple Christmas this year with very few commitments and a hassle free Advent calendar. In the past we have had a craft a day, but this year the activities are a bit more simple (for me at least).
We baked cookies.
We had a cozy Christmas movie camp out downstairs (Charlie Brown Christmas).
We mailed letters to Santa (and ate donuts).
We drank hot chocolate (by the cozy fire at Grandma's).
We also made snowflakes, mailed Christmas cards, and decorated ornaments with Sharpies.
We had to go out to buy the Sharpies and that led to a library trip...
where they were having a Books Alive! program. Tacky the Penguin was a HUGE hit with the kids (and this mama)!
While we were out and it was not raining we decided to head over to Memorial City Mall and check out their new "square." I heard there would be Texas snow so why not?
Can you see the snow? It is actually soap and is mostly blown away in the wind before it reaches the ground. Still fun.
Well shucks! We were at a mall (where we NEVER are) and we figured we might as well go find Santa (or one of his look alike helpers at least).
Also on the Advent calendar were bags for the homeless, toy and clothes donations, game night by the tree, and more.
A real cold front came through on Thursday evening.
We had a tour of the ship channel planned for Friday morning, the coldest morning since last winter by far.

This tv played video from a camera on the front of the boat. The kids would wave to each other and they thought it hilarious.
Well my busiest 4 days in a very long while are half way over. We had a Girl Scout Christmas party, hip hop dress rehearsal, the boat tour, and I did all of my Christmas shopping. Today we have the hip hop recital and tomorrow we are going to see the Nutcracker. After that we have zilch on the schedule until January!
Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
Oh wait. We are going to see Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas with Grandma and the cousins. That will be fun though.
